Shock WWE Title Change Takes Place On SmackDown

WWE logo over blurred Chris Sabin Johnny Gargano

A shock title change took place on WWE SmackDown as a heel turn and betrayal also took place on the show.

For weeks DIY looked to have been on the rocks with Tommaso Ciampa growing increasingly frustrated at the team’s lack of success as well as Johnny Gargano’s friendship with the current WWE Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns.

On the 6th of December edition of SmackDown, DIY challenged Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin for their title in what could have been the last match for Gargano and Ciampa as tempers frayed.

DIY Pull Off WWE Title Shock

During the bout, it looked like the implosion was on its way as Ciampa went to grab a chair while Gargano was at the mercy of the MCMG. However, to the shock of everyone – most of all Alex Shelley – Gargano nailed Chris Sabin with a low blow.

As Alex Shelley questioned Gargano, he was met with a superkick as it became clear Gargano and Ciampa’s issues had all been a ruse. DIY hit their finish to pick up the win and the WWE Tag Team Championship.

SmackDown also saw WWE announce a transfer window as the rosters of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT look to be shaken up before Raw debuts on Netflix in January 2025.
