Shock New WWE Champions Crowned On SmackDown

Tonga Loa WWE Tag Team Championship

There was a huge shock on SmackDown as new WWE Tag Team Champions were crowned in a previously unplanned match.

SmackDown in New York City gave two teams a huge opportunity to capture gold as DIY faced newcomers The Motor City Machine Guns in a number one contender tournament final match.

This was only Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin’s second match together in WWE since joining the company and they picked up a huge win to put them one match away from the WWE Tag Team Championship and The Bloodline weren’t hanging around.

Immediately after the Machine Guns picked up the win, Solo Sikoa led The Bloodline out to confront Shelley and Sabin and it was the number one contenders who convinced General Manager Nick Aldis to make the title match The Bloodline wanted there and then. But Sikoa might have wished he hadn’t bothered being so hasty.

Motor City Machine Guns Win First WWE Championship

Shortly after the title match began, Jimmy Uso and Roman Reigns appeared to take out Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu fighting them to the back, leaving Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa to go it alone.

The Bloodline screwed Jey Uso out of his Intercontinental Title on Raw and when the referee was taken out, that came back to bite Loa and Tonga in a big way. A hooded figure appeared in the ring, wiping out The Bloodline members before revealing themselves as Jey Uso.

The intervention allowed Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin to hit their finisher and pick up the win, becoming WWE Tag Team Champions in only their third match in the company.

The win puts the Motor City Machine Gun into very rarefied air as they have now held tag team gold together in WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor, and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
