Shelton Benjamin Faces 1st Time Opponent In AEW Debut
After making his shock debut in AEW, former WWE star Shelton Benjamin’s first match in his new home has been confirmed.
The future of MVP had been the subject of intense speculation for some time after it emerged he had left WWE. The former US Champion might not be alone, however, as Bobby Lashley has also left WWE amid suggestions there could be a Hurt Business reunion in AEW – and it seems there was another part of that puzzle to be discovered as well.
On the fifth anniversary edition of Dynamite, MVP revealed the AEW arrival of Shelton Benjamin as he continued to hound Prince Nana about Swerve Strickland’s recent misfortune.
At WrestleDream, Swerve Strickland firmly rejected MVP’s overtures but that could come back to bite him as Benjamin warned the former AEW World Champion that they weren’t asking him to join them but rather demanding that he did.
However, Shelton Benjamin’s first AEW match won’t be against Swerve Strickland but will instead be against a newly re-signed AEW star.
Shelton Benjamin Facing Lio Rush On AEW Dynamite
Benjamin and MVP had a backstage run-in with Lio Rush before MVP asked if Rush was free on Wednesday. Tony Khan has now revealed on social media that Benjamin and Rush will clash in a match when Dynamite takes place in San Jose, California on the 16th of October.
