Sheamus Ignores AEW Star’s Unique Feat
Sheamus is looking to end a five-year curse in WWE as he looks to achieve a feat he claims he will be first to do despite an AEW star beating him to it.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25, Sheamus will challenge Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. But for the Irish star, it’s more than just one title on the line, it’s a shot at immortality.
During his WWE career, Sheamus has held tag team gold, the US Championship, the World Heavyweight Title and the WWE Championship in addition to winning the Royal Rumble, the King of the Ring, and Money In The Bank. All of this means Sheamus is just one Intercontinental Title away from achieving an almost unique feat.
Almost unique because WWE Hall of Famer Edge has completed that full set but Sheamus seems to be discounting the current AEW star’s achievement.
Sheamus Forgetting About Edge
Speaking on The Masked Man Show, Sheamus spoke of breaking a curse to finally win the one title missing for him to be an Ultimate Grand Slam Champion – even if he won’t be the first one:
It definitely feels like a curse at this stage, but one I want to break at Saturday Night’s Main Event. I’ll do everything I can to break it, to become WWE’s first-ever Ultimate Grand Slam champion… That’s where I want to be, man. That’s my goal.
It’s been my goal for five years to hold that title, and I keep coming really, really close, whether it’s singles matches with Gunther, triple threats with Drew in there, and the triple threat at Survivor Series. I’ve come so close every single time.
Saturday Night’s Main Event will also see Gunther defend the World Heavyweight Title against Jey Uso, Rhea Ripley put the Women’s World Championship on the line against Nia Jax, and Jacob Fatu clash with Braun Strowman. Shawn Michaels will have an important role at SNME as he presides over a contract signing between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes for their Undisputed WWE Championship ladder match at the Royal Rumble.
