Sheamus Embracing Hard-Hitting Reputation: “I Will Hit You Hard”
If you’re sharing the ring with Sheamus, get ready for a fight.
For years, Sheamus has had a reputation as one of the most physical wrestlers on the WWE roster. While many Superstars are more flamboyant, and others are much more high-flying, there are very few who hit quite as hard.
The former World Champion’s reputation was cemented in 2021 and 2022 with a series of matches against Gunther and Drew McIntyre. This was followed by a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 39 in 2023 between the trio which earned praise across the board.
Sheamus Won’t Change In-Ring Style
In a new interview with Chris McPherson of Collider, Sheamus addressed his physical in-ring reputation. The star admitted that while he pulls no punches once the bell rings, he expects the same in return.
“The thing about me is I’ve never been a guy to take liberties. I will hit you. I will hit you hard. I’m not going to break noses and stuff, but I’ll hit you. But I expect to be hit back just as hard, if not harder, and they know that.
They’re relaxed there, and they can do that, and they can show a side of themselves that they probably wouldn’t be able to show with certain other talent or more experienced or veteran talent like me, and that’s just the way I like it,
I’m sure there are people who don’t want to get in there with me because they don’t like the physical aspect that I bring, but I don’t give a sh*t because if you want to go in there with me, come in there with me.
A lot of young talent will want to get in there, and they’ll know when they’re going to have a Sheamus match—a banger of a Sheamus match to walk away—and the crowd will give them that much more respect.”
After suffering a rib injury at Survivor Series, Sheamus returned to action on the January 13th episode of Raw where he defeated Ludwig Kaiser. He’ll now go on to face Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25th.
