Why Sheamus Doesn’t Watch His Old WWE Matches

Sheamus beats Ivar

Sheamus has explained why he chooses not to re-watch his past WWE matches.

Over the last 15 years, Sheamus has established himself as a WWE legend who has done nearly everything you can do in WWE. Aside from winning the Intercontinental Title, the tough Irishman has accomplished it all in a career that will likely see him become a WWE Hall of Famer in the future.

At 47, Sheamus is still going strong, having recently revealed that he signed a five-year extension with WWE and plans to wrestle until the wheels fall off, so to speak.

Regarding his past in WWE, Sheamus revealed on the Pat McAfee Show that he isn’t the kind of guy who enjoys watching his old matches.

“I try not to watch my old stuff. I feel when I first started in WWE, I was so nervous and so self-conscious about myself, and I wasn’t really in the moment. I wasn’t really enjoying it.

I just wanted to make sure I got through it without messing up, without making any mistakes. Now [I’m] at the point where I just love going out there, feel the crowd … he’s [McAfee] there on commentary, banging it out, you can hear him all over the bleeping place. I always hear you. I can hear you over 20,000 people.”

Sheamus Believes He’s Having The Best Matches Of His Career

In recent years, Sheamus has had some legendary matches like the Clash at the Castle battle with Gunther and the WrestleMania 39 triple threat with Gunther and Drew McIntyre, who is one of Sheamus’ best friends. Sheamus loves to have “banger after banger” matches, which is another way of saying great matches and he feels like he’s performing at a high level.

“I just enjoy, feel the crowd, I’m more in the moment than I’ve ever been. That’s what it’s about, and letting the crowd in, and that’s why I’m having the best matches of my entire career.”

The Celtic Warrior will have another chance to have a “banger” match on the June 16th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw when he’s in a King of the Ring first-round match with powerhouses Rusev and Bronson Reed, along with the former World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso.

Whoever wins that match will have a tough test in the semifinals against Cody Rhodes.
