Shawn Michaels Believes Surprising WWE NXT Star Will Have Breakout Year In 2026
Shawn Michaels believes there’s a woman on the WWE NXT roster who will have a big year in 2026.
In his role as the WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development, Creative, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has a major say in what happens on the NXT brand.
While he has the fancy job title, Michaels is also a talent evaluator and the booker for the NXT brand, which means he runs the creative team for NXT and decides who wins and loses matches on the television show and at PLE events.
Considering Michaels is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time, it’s a role he is well-suited for, and many people believe he’s done well in it over the last four years.
The NXT brand is returning to Shawn Michaels’ hometown of San Antonio, Texas, for the Deadline PLE on December 6th.
Wren Sinclair is a promising young wrestler in NXT’s women’s division. She’s not on the Deadline card, but she is aligned with Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey. Wren grew up in Dallas and trained to wrestle in the San Antonio area, so it’s a homecoming for her too.
Speaking to the San Antonio Express-News, Wren Sinclair said it’s essential to make the most of the time you have on screen.
“I think it’s just about being grateful for the time that you do have. Many people will complain that they don’t get enough time.
But for me, I just want to get my personality out there. My personality is me. So, if I can sprinkle a little bit of Wren in everything I do, then I’m going to do it, and I’m going to try and steal that camera away from whoever else is on there.”
Shawn Michaels Makes Bold Prediction About Wren Sinclair’s WWE NXT Future
Even though Wren Sinclair has yet to capture a champion in NXT or get a major push on the brand, her NXT boss, Shawn Michaels, believes 2026 could be a huge year for Wren, as he told the San Antonio Express-News.
“Wren is one of those people that, from a creative standpoint, is the joy to get to work with because there isn’t anything that she can’t do.
She is somebody who has really understood the entertainment aspect of this job while also doing a wonderful job of mastering the in-ring work. She can do a backstage (segment), and she can be serious one minute and then just incredibly funny in the next.
In 2026, I can tell you Wren Sinclair is going to have a breakout year.”
The comment could be seen as surprising since Sinclair isn’t featured that much on NXT television. However, it is an excellent sign for Wren Sinclair’s future and for NXT fans who have been clamoring to see her utilized more than she has been in the past few years.
