Shawn Michaels Shuts Down The Idea Of Having Another Match

Shawn Michaels doesn’t seem interested in wrestling again while having a major influence on developing WWE’s younger stars.

As a two-time WWE Hall of Famer that is a former four-time WWE World Champion that is considered by many people to be one of the greatest wrestlers ever, Shawn Michaels has nothing left to prove in a wrestling ring.

There aren’t many guys in the history of wrestling that can say their retirement match was a WrestleMania main event. In 2010 at WrestleMania 26, Michaels lost to The Undertaker and retired as a full-timer while having one of the best matches of that year.

While the retirement happened in 2010, Michaels did come back in the main event of Crown Jewel 2018 to team with Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane. It was a bad match, but they all got paid a lot of money for it.

Today is Shawn Michaels’ 58th birthday and even though he’s been retired as a full-time wrestler for 13 years now, many of the greats in pro wrestling get asked about having one more match.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Shawn Michaels made it clear he doesn’t have an interest in wrestling again. Michaels is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative meaning he runs the NXT brand and has a major say in WWE’s developmental system, which is a job he loves.

“No, I absolutely don’t think about that at all anymore. I’m so enamored and enjoy helping these young men and women come through NXT. I’ve had my time in the sun. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it, but I so thoroughly enjoy being able to help them and allow them to have the same opportunities that I had.”

“This is about the generation of a Bron Breakker, Julius and Brutus Creed, Tiffany Stratton – we have a number of young men and women coming through NXT who are going to be huge, huge superstars on the main roster. I don’t think anyone is going to be surprised if they see Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes headlining a WrestleMania someday in the very near future … that’s what I’m obviously focused on.”

Happy birthday to the Heartbreak Kid!
