Shawn Michaels Gets Physical At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Sometimes Shawn Michaels has to remind the world just who he is.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens had a contract signing for their Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. But as is WWE tradition, the proceedings went anything but smoothly.

Presiding over the tense exchange was hometown hero and WWE legend Shawn Michaels.

Owens scored the first psychological blow, entering wearing a “Cody Sucks Eggs” t-shirt — a callback to Terry Funk’s t-shirt aimed at Rhodes’ famous father. Rhodes quickly signed the contract, but before KO followed suit, he had a few things to get off his chest.

However, just as he was hitting his stride, Rhodes told him to shut up, something that only annoyed Owens further. KO said at the Rumble he’ll prove everyone who ever doubted him wrong, and he’ll emerge the true World Champion. Michaels told Owens he sounded jealous of Rhodes, to which he replied he was bringing more prestige to the Winged Eagle Championship belt than he ever did.

Owens eventually signed the contract, and Michaels wished both men good luck before trying to get them to shake hands. Unsurprisingly, that didn’t work out, and Owens sneaked in a cheap shot on Rhodes. He then tried to set HBK up for a Package Piledriver, but Rhodes delivered a Superkick. At this, Michaels tuned up the band and delivered Sweet Chin Music to Owens to close the segment.

WWE Botched Shawn Michaels Appearance

On January 6th, Monday Night Raw arrived on Netflix with several legends and Hall of Famers on hand for the celebration. However, it’s since been revealed that one big name was missing.

While looking back at his own cameo on the show, The Undertaker claimed Shawn Michaels was also scheduled to appear on-screen. However, when the moment came for him to be shown in the crowd, no one went to fetch him from his dressing room.

‘Taker, Michaels, and Bruce Prichard later took a photo together as the trio are the only three people still involved with WWE from Raw’s debut back in 1993.
