Huge Shawn Michaels Match Pitched By Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has indicated that he pitched an idea that would have seen him go one-on-one with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

In the spring of 2022, Kevin Owens surely became the envy of his peers when he was the man chosen to close night one of WrestleMania 38 with Stone Cold Steve Austin. The segment was originally advertised as The KO Show, but when the men got to the ring, the real plan unfolded. Owens challenged Austin to a match in his home state of Texas and Austin was only too happy to accept.

The result was a well-received fun brawl that saw Stone Cold Steve Austin pick up a victory in his first wrestling match in 19 years. Now it seems, that Owens had his sights set on another Texan and another WWE Hall of Famer.

Speaking on the French language podcast Sans restriction, and as reported by Fightful Select, Kevin Owens sat down with Shawn Michaels during an appearance in NXT and asked if he’d consider one final bout with the former Universal Champion. Kevin Owens’ desire to have the match following the Austin bout was so that he could say he’d wrestled his two favourite stars of all time.

Shawn Michaels reportedly told Owens that he’d be lying if he wasn’t considering another match, especially considering the kind of match Owens and Austin had. However, Michaels also said he doesn’t think he should compete again.

Shawn Michaels retired originally at WrestleMania 26 when he lost a ‘Career vs. Streak’ match against The Undertaker. However, the Heartbreak Kid did return to the ring at Crown Jewel in 2018 in an infamous tag team match that pitted DX against The Brothers of Destruction.
