Shane McMahon Addresses Possibility Of Working For AEW
Shane McMahon has always been a WWE guy, but would he ever really work for AEW?
One of the big stories in 2024 was from last July when it was reported that former WWE executive Shane McMahon had a meeting with AEW’s Owner Tony Khan. There was even a photo released of the meeting, which Shane and AEW may not have wanted to be made public, but it certainly circulated after it happened.
There were reports after the meeting that Shane, who has been away from WWE for a few years, wanted complete control if he took over AEW. That’s something that Khan was never going to give him since Khan’s family owns the company and created AEW in 2019.
Since the meeting, Shane McMahon hasn’t said much about it, but he did address it in recent comments with TMZ.
“Had a meeting with AEW and wished them continued success. But it’s not WWE, it’s not the company that I helped build. But you never know what’s going to happen in this business.”
It sounds like Shane McMahon isn’t interested in working for AEW, but he still used the “you never know” line when talking about it, which is something people in wrestling tend to do.
Shane McMahon Shuts Down Rumour About Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon is starting a new company called 14th & I, which is a “private investment firm focused on the sports, media, & entertainment sectors.” They are expected to produce content, which has led to speculation that it could be a new wrestling company.
When TMZ asked Shane McMahon about possibly starting a wrestling promotion with his father Vince, he shot the idea down while mentioning a common WWE catchphrase.
“You never know what’s going to happen out there. Of course, anything can happen in WWE. But those rumors are false.”
According to Shane, his father, Vince, is also “getting a little bit of a rest” while remaining gung-ho about future projects.
