Several Top AEW Stars To Enter Owen Hart Cup
A number of AEW’s biggest stars will be part of the Owen Hart Cup.
On the March 29 edition of Collision, it was confirmed that Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, Athena, Billie Starkz, and Mercedes Mone will all be part of the Owen Hart Cup.
Brackets for the men’s and women’s tournaments will be revealed on the April 2 edition of Dynamite. The winners of each tournament will face the respective World Champions at All In: Texas on July 12.
Mone announced her inclusion in an interview with Tony Schiavone after making quick work of Robyn Renegade. The star said she’s the greatest TBS Champion of all time, and she’s going to win even more gold.
After announcing she would be in the Owen Hart Cup, Schiavone added that Billie Starkz would also be involved. Mone quickly dismissed Starkz and this brought out her mentor Athena for a long-awaited showdown. Mone swung to hit Athena but was laid out by a forearm.
As Renegade tried to help the TBS Champion to her feet, Mone pushed her into an O-Face from Athena. The segment with the ROH Women’s Champion standing tall.
On the men’s side, “Hangman” Adam Page, Jay White, and Will Ospreay have all announced their entry into the tournament.
AEW Announces New Signing
Elsewhere on Collision, it was announced that Kevin Knight has officially signed with AEW. The star had been a free agent since leaving NJPW back in early January.
On the show, he lost out to Jay White, in what was his official debut for the company.
It’s since been reported that Knight had an “invited try-out” at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida several weeks ago before deciding to sign with AEW.
Knight’s arrival came just days after Mina Shirakawa announced she will become All Elite when she leaves Stardom at the end of March.
