Several Names Announced For WWE Hall Of Fame
More names are coming to the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE has announced that Kamala, Ivan Koloff, and Dory Funk Sr. are the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame legacy inductees.
James Harris began his career back in 1978 and he initially wrestled under the name “Sugar Bear” Harris before joining the CWA in 1982. It was here that the Kamala character was developed in partnership with Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett.
Over the next decade and a half, Kamala made stops in Mid-South Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling, the AWA, and WCW, as well as enjoying multiple stints with WWE.
Harris sadly passed away on August 9, 2020.
Oreal Perras was born in Montreal, Canada in 1942 before making his in-ring debut in 1963. However, it was not until 1967 that he began performing under the more well-known name “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff.
The star is best remembered for beating Bruno Sammartino in Madison Square Garden to win the WWWF Heavyweight Championship in January 1971. Prior to the stunning defeat, Sammartino had held the title for over seven and a half years.
Koloff continued to find success across several NWA territories through the 70s and 80s, until retiring in 1994. However, he returned to the ring in 2004, wrestling his last match in 2013. The legendary former champion passed away on February 18, 2017.
Dory Funk Sr. was the patriarch of the famous Funk wrestling family, with his sons and Terry and Dory Jr. going on to become legends in their own right. Dory Sr. was an accomplished amateur wrestler and switched to the professional ranks after serving in the US Navy in World War II.
However, Funk Sr is perhaps most famous for his time running the Western States Sports promotion in Amarillo, Texas. The territory enjoyed tremendous success in the 1960s and 70s that continued even after Dory Sr.’s passing on June 3, 1973.
Lex Luger Still Waiting On WWE
In a recent interview, Lex Luger revealed he’s still waiting to see whether Sting will induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Luger said he’d like to have his long-time friends Sting and Diamond Dallas Page doing the honours, but The Icon’s contractual situation with AEW could prove to be a stumbling block.
Luger is set to be inducted alongside Triple H, the Natural Disasters, and Michelle McCool. For the first time, the company will induct an “Immortal Moment” in the form of Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin from WrestleMania 13.
