Seth Rollins Believes WWE Decision Will Extend His Career

A business move made by WWE’s decision-makers will likely lead to Seth Rollins wrestling even longer than he anticipated.

The way WWE runs its business in 2025 is different than in past years. That’s because the company has zero non-televised events scheduled for the main roster from the start of the year until mid-March. Those March events are going to be in Europe.

In past years, the WWE roster was on tour throughout North America nearly every weekend, but the business model has changed. There used to be over 300 live events per year in WWE counting Raw, Smackdown, and NXT, but this year there will be less than 200 of them, according to TKO President Mark Shapiro.

A big reason why they can cut back on live events is because of the massive Netflix deal that will pay WWE over $5 billion over 10 years for Raw and international WWE rights along with other massive deals they have signed in recent years.

By having fewer live events, WWE superstars will have more time at home with their families and they will also take fewer bumps, which likely means longer careers.

Seth Rollins has been one of the biggest superstars in WWE over the past 12 years and he wrestled over 150 matches per year multiple times. This year, he’ll wrestle fewer matches due to the reduced schedule.

WWE Schedule Reduction Is Nice For Seth Rollins

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Seth Rollins was asked if he thought about how much longer he’d be able to wrestle. Rollins admitted that he thinks about it all the time while also showing gratitude for WWE cutting back on the number of events they run every year.

“I think about it all the time. I am 38, I will be 39 in May. I think I’ve got more than a couple years left in me. The dynamic of the industry has shifted so much. I’m not wrestling 200 times a year anymore. I’m not on the road 300 days a year anymore. Live Events, non-televised events have kind of dissipated, which for me, guys like me, I’ve wrestled over 2,000 matches in my career, that’s nice for me.

It’s just like riding a bike for me. We’ll see how it is for people coming up who need that experience, we’ll see what that looks like in a few years.

But with that schedule, I feel like I’ll be able to extend my career probably longer than I thought I was going to, and then it just depends on where I want to go from there, what I want to do next and how much time I’d like to spend at home with my daughter, taking her to do things that are important to her, that are a lot more important than making towns.”

To start 2025, Seth Rollins is 0-1 after falling to CM Punk on the Raw on Netflix premiere in Los Angeles.
