Seth Rollins On The Pressure He Felt Going Into Logan Paul Match At WrestleMania 39
Seth Rollins has opened up about the pressure he felt going into his WrestleMania 39 showdown with Logan Paul.
It has been an impressive 2023 so far for the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, who is officially billed as Seth “Freakin” Rollins in WWE these days.
At WWE Night of Champions two weeks ago, Seth Rollins beat AJ Styles in the finals of a tournament to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion.
In his first televised World Heavyweight Title defense, Seth Rollins defeated Damian Priest in the main event of Raw on June 5th. After the match, Rollins had a bit of a staredown with Priest’s ally in The Judgment Day, Finn Balor, which could mean there’s a Rollins-Balor showdown coming soon.
At WrestleMania 39 this year, Seth Rollins picked up a big win when he beat part-time WWE star Logan Paul in a terrific match that was considered by many to be one of the best matches at the two-day event at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
While speaking to Mark Andrews on his My Love Letter to Wrestling podcast, Rollins spoke about the pressure he felt going into that match.
“It’s different. It’s 100% different. Obviously, there’s a lot more pressure on me to carry the weight of a match, carry the burden of a huge WrestleMania match where you’ve got someone like Logan Paul, who brings so many eyes that normally don’t pay any attention to our industry and put a huge spotlight on our industry at the biggest event of the year. So there’s a lot of pressure on you.”
“The company is basically saying, ‘Here, we trust you to handle this and do this well.’ Then you’re in there with a guy who has very little experience.”
“But I’ll say this about Logan. Say what you will about his personality and how he conducts himself outside of the ring and his different exploits and all that, I don’t pretend to comment or know about all that stuff. But he’s a hard-working cat, he is a hustler, and I don’t think you get to his level of success just kind of phoning it in.”
“He’s a hustler, he did everything that he needed to do to get himself as ready as someone in his position could be for a match like that, and I think you saw the end result.”
As he continued, Seth Rollins spoke about how he thinks it was as good as other WrestleMania matches he has had while also praising himself a bit as well.
“It’s on par with any of the other WrestleMania matches that I’ve ever had. That’s a testament to me and how fantastic I am, but also it’s a testament to him and how much hard work he put in, and got himself in the absolute best possible position to succeed. So it was a great time, and I’d love to do it again.”
While Seth Rollins is busy on Raw and WWE live events, he was also called out for a match by former NXT Champion Bron Breakker, who wants to face Rollins in an NXT ring.
