Can Seth Rollins Win the World Title at WWE SummerSlam Despite Injury?
With WWE SummerSlam just days away, speculation is swirling about whether Seth Rollins will make a shocking return and cash in his Money in the Bank contract.
Many fans and insiders believe this storyline is plausible, especially given reports suggesting Rollins’ injury may not be as severe as WWE has indicated. Some envision The Visionary turning his injury status around to capture the championship in a dramatic SummerSlam moment. However, former WWE star Aiden English shared a more cautious perspective, explaining why WWE is unlikely to have Seth Rollins win the title while still injured.
Ex-WWE Star Aiden English Doesn’t See Seth Rollins Winning World Title at SummerSlam
Speaking on the REBOOKED Wrestling podcast, English pointed out that WWE’s championship policies create significant complications for such a booking. He explained that even though the Money in the Bank contract allows cash-ins in match situations, there is a “weird grey area” from a medical and storyline standpoint, as an injured champion would not typically be cleared to compete.
He further emphasized that historically in WWE, if a champion is unable to defend their title for 30 days or more due to injury, they are often required to relinquish the championship. This rule makes the idea of Seth Rollins winning and holding the title while hurt a risky move, both for storyline integrity and WWE’s internal protocols.
“If Seth Rollins won the title injured. number one, it’s a bad precedent to Seth. It is because, like even though it’s a Money in the Bank cash in and it’s a match and he would never get cleared. It’s a weird gray area. And then there is precedent in WWE WWF history that if a champion is injured and cannot defend his belt for 30 days or whatever it is, he has to relinquish it. So, I think there’s too much gray area for that.” [1:07:24 -1:07:55]
