Seth Rollins Knows What Role He Wants After WWE Retirement

Seth Rollins feels like he can do a lot of different things after retiring as a WWE superstar.

At the WWE Crown Jewel PLE in Perth, Australia, in October, Seth Rollins was representing The Vision as the WWE World Champion in a match against the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.

Rollins would go on to beat Rhodes in a battle between WWE’s two top male champions. Unfortunately for Rollins, he did a Coast To Coast headbutt that saw him land hard on his left shoulder. Rollins ended up finishing the match, but the left shoulder required surgery, and Rollins is expected to be out of action for up to six months, or possibly more. After Rollins was turned on by The Vision’s Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman), Rollins had surgery on his left shoulder and has been away from WWE since then.

In his time away from WWE, Rollins has been regularly appearing on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football show as one of the co-hosts, as he enjoys his Chicago Bears having a successful season, which hasn’t been that common in recent years.

During an interview with Bleacher Report, Seth Rollins revealed that his appearances on GMFB were planned before he suffered an injury.

“This thing with the NFL and my injury, it was a happy coincidence. We were gonna do this no matter what. If I was still the WWE world heavyweight champion, I was still gonna be a broadcaster on Good Morning Football weekly.

I was still gonna do the Christmas Day game either way, so it’s nice that I can kind of put most of my focus on this pot a little bit. Obviously, if I was doing both, it would’ve been a little more difficult because I would’ve had to split it, but I love both. I love professional wrestling and I love professional football.”

Seth Rollins Feels Like He Could Help Run WWE In The Future

At 39, Seth Rollins isn’t ready to retire as a wrestler yet, as he likely has another decade as a top star as long as he wants to keep doing it.

When asked about what interests him down the road, the future WWE Hall of Famer Rollins said he could see himself involved with the NFL and also behind the scenes with WWE, which could lead to seeing Rollins running the show from the backstage area.

“I wanna do it all. I don’t see any reason why I can’t. Who says I can’t do both? I love WWE and I wanna be a part of it for as long as I can, as long as they’ll have me, whether that’s in ring or behind the scenes.

And I love talking about football, so if I can continue to kind of create my own space in that world and people will have me, I’d love to be there and talk about it. It’s a great thing to be able to do both, I’m super lucky.

When I’m done, I wanna be in the booth calling a Bears game and then I wanna be calling the shots in Gorilla in WWE. So, let’s do it all.”

The “Gorilla” area in WWE is backstage, right behind the curtain, where WWE Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon used to be during shows to help run things. It’s a spot where former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and current WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque have been known to sit when they are running WWE events.

Triple H’s role in running WWE from the Gorilla Position was featured on the WWE Unreal documentary series on Netflix.
