Seth Rollins Stands By Stunning WWE Moment

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins says The Shield made wrestling better.

Although he’d been wowing crowds in Ring of Honor and on the independent scene for several years, Seth Rollins exploded onto WWE television at Survivor Series in 2012. In partnership with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), the trio dominated WWE for the next two years, taking the company by storm.

However, by June 2014, it was time for a change. And that change came in the form of Rollins smashing Reigns with a steel chair on Raw to align with Triple H and The Authority. With The Shield destroyed, Reigns, Rollins, and Moxley embarked on singles careers that ensured each man would retire a legend.

During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Rollins was asked about the breakup of The Shield, and he admitted he wouldn’t change a thing.

“Yeah, I have [thought about]. I’ve been asked about it a lot. Obviously, that’s the one thing if you’re a fan of Seth Rollins or The Shield or Jon Moxley or Roman Reigns. That’s the one thing that sits with you. Over the course of the last ten years, essentially. And I get asked about it all the time, and I’ve thought about it. ‘Would you go back? Would you change it? Would you do something different?’

And my answer is unequivocally no, I wouldn’t because where we’re at now, the business as a whole is healthier than its ever been and that moment of time shifted everything. That’s what put us all on our separate paths. And our goal in the beginning was to run the show. To run the business, to change it, to make it better. And here we are, a decade later, and I dare say that it was accomplished with the swing of that steel chair.”

Seth Rollins Set For Very Different Role At SummerSlam

At SummerSlam, Seth Rollins will serve as the special guest referee when CM Punk finally takes on Drew McIntyre. On the July 29th episode of Raw, Rollins laid down the law to both men, warning he’s not “some little referee that you can push around.”

As many have pointed out the storyline and match will pay homage to the main event of SummerSlam 1997. On that occasion, Shawn Michaels served as the special guest referee for the WWF Title match between The Undertaker and Bret Hart.
