Seth Rollins Lifts Lid On Reality Of Working WWE Royal Rumble Match
Seth Rollins is ready for another huge battle.
The 2025 men’s Royal Rumble Match has the potential to be one of the most star-studded bouts in the match’s history. Stars such as CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and many more have already declared themselves for the match with plenty of room for surprises in store.
There’s also the small matter of John Cena kicking off his retirement tour in earnest as he takes part in his final Rumble event. This has led to speculation that Cena could go on and win the whole thing before challenging for the World Championship one more time at WrestleMania.
Should Cena win, it’ll be another hugely memorable moment in WWE history, but what is it really like to be in the ring when history is made?
Seth Rollins Ready For Royal Rumble Pressure
During a new interview with Jimmy Traina for SI Media, Rollins gave fans a glimpse behind the curtain regarding the Rumble match itself. The former World Champion said that in a lot of ways, having to share the load with 29 other wrestlers makes life easier, but owing to the size of the event, the pressure to perform is high.
“It’s just kind of different. I don’t know that it’s better or worse. I think in some ways, because you’re sharing the workload with 29 other guys, there’s like a little less stress, you know, it’s like a team sport.
You’re kind of all in it together, so you do your part, and that’s why you have to really worry about it as opposed to a match, which is entirely yours. If you’re out there for, you know, 20-30 minutes, the microscope is entirely on you the whole time. And so you feel like you have to be on all the time, totally focused.
Whereas, when it’s the Rumble, you just like a cog in the machine, you know, your gear that churns. And if you churn properly, and everybody else churns, you know, then you create a good little machine to go.
So the pressure is higher, though, because there are so many eyes on it. You want it to be memorable. It’s the kickoff to our biggest part of the year for us, WrestleMania season, basically from January until April. Mid-April now is like, you know, that’s where the levels go up. So the pressure is high to deliver, but you get to share that pressure with 29 of the folks.
So it’s kind of easier and harder in some ways.”
Seth Rollins has a good history with the Royal Rumble, having won the men’s Rumble Match back in 2019. That year Rollins went on to beat Brock Lesnar to claim the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.
