Seth Rollins Calls John Cena The Best And “GOAT”

Seth Rollins has a lot of praise for John Cena.

Seth Rollins and Cena have an interesting and storied past. Rollins, as a member of the shield, beat Cena and team Hell No at Elimination Chamber 2013. The two faced off dozens of times at WWE live events and on shows like SmackDown throughout 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Then the two were involved in a highly-acclaimed triple threat that also involved Brock Lesnar at the 2015 Royal Rumble. And, of course, there was their WWE Championship/US Championship winner-take-all match at SummerSlam 2015.

Because of this extensive history, Seth Rollins came from a position of experience and authority when he praised Cena as the GOAT in an interview with Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

“John’s the GOAT. John’s the best. John is incredible. I’m a footnote, really, in his career, you know, John influenced so many talents over the years. He was a generational guy. For me, though, on the other side of that, John influenced what I do so heavily.

I took a ton of inspiration from John. I learned a lot being in the ring with John. I learned a lot watching John behind the scenes. John still is a mentor to me, even now that he’s not around that often.

It’s awesome to see him portrayed in this way (WWE 2K23 cover), the legend that he is. I’m very excited to see what his story mode looks like throughout the game.

I’m just a bit part of that. So it’s my pleasure and my honor to be even a little footnote in the story of John Cena.”

Not all of Seth Rollins’ recent comments have been positive, though. He hasn’t thought much of Logan Paul so far and he recently referred to CM Punk – whom he called ‘Phil’ and not his wrestling name – as a “cancer”.
