Seth Rollins Upsets Cody Rhodes To Win His Maiden Crown Jewel Championship
Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins faced off in a Champion vs. Champion match in the main event for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship.
Rhodes, who won the honors last year by defeating Gunther, was looking for a back-to-back.
Earlier on the show, The Vision’s Bronson Reed secured a big win against Roman Reigns in an Australian Street Fight match. In a backstage segment later, Paul Heyman informed Reed and Bron Breakker that they won’t be helping Rollins in the main event.
Seth Rollins was 0-3 against Cody Rhodes in singles competition since the latter’s return to WWE in 2022.
Seth Rollins Wins Against All Odds
The Perth crowd did not help his pride much, chanting “w*nker” as they did on SmackDown.
The American Nightmare had The Visionary’s number in the early going before losing the advantage. Rollins performed a variety of impressive moves while also taunting the crowd, and even Wade Barrett, for that matter.
The match continued with back-and-forth action, with Cody Rhodes even kicking off a Stomp by Seth Rollins, and Rollins kicking off a Cross Rhodes.
Rollins also hit a coast-to-coast headbutt, but failed to win the pinfall. Cody then hit a Cross Rhodes from the top rope, but he, too, didn’t land a pinfall.
The 39-year-old used the Rolex watch that Cody Rhodes had gifted him around WrestleMania 40. Rollins followed it up with a Stomp and then another one from the middle rope for his first win over his opponent.
