Seth Rollins Admits Move At WWE Crown Jewel Was Risky
Seth Rollins took a big risk at WWE Crown Jewel and admits it could have a long-term effect on his career.
In the main event of WWE Crown Jewel: Perth, the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins beat WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to become the Men’s Crown Jewel Champion.
There was a spot in the 30-minute match where Rhodes was upside down against the turnbuckle. Rollins realized that, so he went on the other turnbuckle to attempt a move across the ring.
It appeared as though Rollins would attempt a Coast to Coast dropkick like Rob Van Dam and Shane McMahon did many times in their careers. Instead, Rollins jumped all the way across the ring and headbutted the upper body of Rhodes.
On commentary, announcer Wade Barrett immediately noticed that Rollis had a rough landing on his left arm and shoulder. Rollins was able to win the match, but he may have been injured attempting the headbutt.
While speaking at the WWE Crown Jewel post-show, Seth Rollins admitted the headbutt caused a rough landing for him.
“The truth is, I told Cody that I would do anything. By any means necessary. Whatever it took, I was going to beat him. I saw an opportunity, I took it, it didn’t pay off. Honestly, there might be some long-term ramifications. At the end of the day, I was going to lay it all on the line. I did everything in that ring, no matter what. Rough landing right there. Rough landing.”
Seth Rollins Cheated To Beat Cody Rhodes At WWE Crown Jewel
The finish of the match saw Seth Rollins cheat to win by using a Rolex watch. The Rolex watch was gifted to Rollins by Rhodes when they teamed up together in the WrestleMania 40 Saturday main event.
At the end of this match, Rollins put the Rolex watch on his hand, the referee was knocked down a bit, and Rollins used the watch to punch Cody in the head. The referee never saw it. Seth hit The Stomp on Cody and didn’t attempt a cover. Cody rolled toward Seth, who was on the middle turnbuckle, and Seth hit The Stomp off the middle turnbuckle for the one…two….and three.
After the match, Seth said that his victory felt better than any of you could ever imagine. Seth said that there is only one man who reaches higher than the highest. Seth said that he is no longer the greatest of his generation – he’s the greatest of all time. Seth went over his nicknames, saying he’s a visionary, he’s a revolutionary, and he is Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
