Secret Rule The Rock Uses In WWE Revealed By CM Punk
The Rock doesn’t always appear on WWE TV, but when he does, the crowd goes berserk.
The Final Boss hasn’t made too many appearances this year. He appeared during WWE RAW’s debut on Netflix and then on Elimination Chamber when John Cena turned on Cody Rhodes.
In 2024, The Brahma Bull played a key role in the buildup to WrestleMania 40 and made multiple appearances ahead of the tag team match at The Show of Shows.
The Rock goes past his allotted time due to a secret rule
During the build-up, The Rock would work segments with Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. It had come to the fans’ attention that he would sometimes exceed his allotted time, which would impact the timing of other superstars’ segments.
While speaking to SPORTbible, CM Punk revealed that superstars must adhere to their allotted time, or else they receive an earful. However, if the segment is extraordinary and the fans heavily engage with it, superstars can get away with going past their time slot.
It’s one of the secret rules. As long as it’s really, really good, you can get away with it. Going 20 minutes over and you suck, that’s no good. I don’t want to cut into anyone else’s segment and there’s a lot of times I have x amount of time for something and I don’t think I need all that time, I’ll just go out there and go short.
That’s the way a lot of the talent work together. I know there is a lot of Bloodline segments or stuff with The Rock, when it’s really good and the crowd’s going absolutely banana for it – you can’t really rush through it.
CM Punk won the Gaultlet match on WWE RAW, and will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025.
