Sasha Banks’ WWE Release Confirmed
Sasha Banks has been the name on wrestling fans’ lips since she and Naomi walked out of WWE but a new report seems to confirm that Banks has now been released.
Sasha Banks and Naomi caused uproar in the wrestling world after they unceremoniously walked out on WWE during an episode of Monday Night Raw. The two women were scheduled to be part of that night’s main event but their walkout led WWE to publicly slam the two stars both on Raw and later in the week on SmackDown as well.
Banks and Naomi were said to have turned over their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship belts to Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis. WWE confirmed later that week that the pair had been stripped of the championship and were suspended indefinitely.
Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. was first to report that Sasha Banks might well be gone from WWE after she apparently had a legal team working on her release.
WrestleVotes has now reported that the feeling going around SmackDown in Minneapolis was that The Boss was now an ex-WWE Superstar:
“The word backstage from SmackDown tonight is that the report from @TheRajGiriis indeed accurate according to multiple sources. Sasha Banks has been released from her WWE contract.”
WWE nor Sasha Banks have yet to comment publicly on the release so far. It is unknown at this time if Banks will be subject to the standard ninety-day non-compete clause other WWE Superstars who have been released have been held to.
