Saraya has commented on the situation with William Regal and seems to suggest AEW stars can pick and choose how much of their contract they see through.

The situation surrounding William Regal has dominated headlines in recent days but Tony Khan has now confirmed that the English star will be leaving AEW at the end of 2022 after he asked for the company’s option to extend his deal not to be exercised. It is believed Regal will soon be returning to WWE where he previously worked for the best part of two decades before his release in January 2022 under the old management.

Now Saraya, who only debuted for AEW at Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2022, has discussed the situation regarding Regal in an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, where she says those backstage are happy Regal is able to do what he chooses to at this point in his life and career:

“Everyone has an opinion on that. The reality is, it doesn’t have anything to do with anything backstage, it’s to do with how he feels. Us behind the scenes know why, and we’re happy for him! Whether he’s going there or whatever, it doesn’t matter. We’re just happy with whatever he wants to do with his life. He’s at the age where he can do whatever he wants to without the internet deep diving into it, or everyone saying this, that and the other about him. Who cares? Let him be happy!”

On the subject of Tony Khan, Saraya noted she was “lucky” to have him as a boss and says he will work with talent and not have them stuck in contracts they don’t necessarily want to be in:

“Tony’s so fantastic too. He lets people do – not do whatever they want, but he’s so open-minded to how people think. If you’re having a bad day, he’ll be like, ‘take a day off.’ If you only want to do a certain amount of time on your contract, you can totally do that. He doesn’t have you locked in where you have to stay for this amount of time, he’s great. I’m very lucky to have the boss that I have.”
