Saraya Addresses Rumor Of Mercedes Mone Appearing In AEW

Now Mercedes Mone has debuted in NJPW, there will be increased speculation about where else she may appear, and Saraya has discussed whether it could be AEW.

After plenty of speculation, Mercedes Mone made her first NJPW appearance when she confronted IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI after her title defense at Wrestle Kingdom. The pair will now face off at Battle Of The Valley in San Jose on 18th February.

As yet, there has been no confirmation on whether Mone will be showing up at any other promotions. There have been constant links with AEW, although it seems that there are very few people who know whether a deal is done.

In an interview on DJ Whoo’s Show, Saraya noted that she has spoken to Mercedes Mone since her NJPW debut but doesn’t know if she’s going to be coming to AEW anytime soon, or even at this Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite – although she’d love it if ‘The Boss’ was.

I don’t know. I wish I knew that. Even Meech, my manager, is constantly asking, and I’m just like, ‘I have no idea!’ And I asked Tony Khan. I’m like, ‘What’s the deal?’ … I would love to do it [a match with Mercedes] in AEW because I’m there. I mean, Tony has a good relationship with New Japan. He loves New Japan. Sasha, I texted her the other day just to be like, ‘Congratulations.’ She said she’s happy.

I’m not starting any rumors with her. But I would one day love to have — I mean, we have a built-in storyline because unfortunately it was me and her in the ring when my career was ended. So when I got cleared, she was one of the first people I texted, ‘Guess what?! You don’t have to feel bad anymore!

On the 11th January 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite, Saraya will team with Toni Storm to take on Dr Britt Baker D.M.D. and AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter.
