Saraya Makes Shocking Revelation About AEW Promo Gone Wrong

saraya aew talk dynamite

Former AEW star Saraya has lifted the lid on an infamous promo that went wrong very quickly and explains why it happened.

After years on the shelf in WWE due to injury, Saraya made her surprise AEW debut in the fall of 2022. At Full Gear 2022, the star formerly known as Paige competed in her first match in five years as she defeated Britt Baker.

Although fans were delighted Saraya was able to get back in the ring, that didn’t mean she got an easy ride from all sections of fans.

Saraya Promo Sparked Hatred Online

Speaking on Rulebreakers, Saraya explained what went wrong with a rambling promo shortly after her debut in AEW and why she didn’t know what to say because she didn’t know what the company’s plans for her were:

I remember when I made my debut for AEW I was just like there’s no way people are gonna give a f*ck about me walking out right now, they f*cking hate me, because of Twitter and stuff like that, you kind of read into it. I’m like people are not gonna give a flying f*ck. Then when I went out there, I was like “Oh my god yeah, people f*cking like me!” I’m actually quite shocked.

But then the week after, they humble you really quick, especially the ones on the f*cking internet. I did a promo, I sh*t the bed, I was so nervous. I hadn’t been in the ring in five years and I just – I didn’t know why I was there. I didn’t get any info, like what am I gonna be doing? I wasn’t cleared, I’m like what the f*ck?

So what am I supposed to say in this promo? And then they don’t give you verbiage so you’re just like what the f*ck am I gonna say? I just rambled and sh*t the bed. Anyway, the internet ate me up dude. They tore me a new a**ehole, I was like why did I come back to wrestling? People hate me.

It didn’t become much clearer during her time in AEW why Saraya was there, and she had her final match in Tony Khan’s promotion in October 2024 before ultimately leaving.
