Saraya Reveals Her Mystery Partner For Next Week’s AEW Dynamite
After weeks of speculation, we now know who will team with Saraya on the January 11th episode of AEW Dynamite!
Ever since she announced that she’d be returning to the ring with a mystery partner to take on the team of Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker, speculation has abounded about who the mystery person might be.
Many fans believed that the mystery person would turn out to be the former Sasha Banks, who made her return to professional wrestling at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th under the name Mercedes Mone. Saraya herself addressed these rumors weeks ago in an interview with Forbes, saying:
“I feel like anytime there’s a mystery, everyone always goes straight for Mercedes (laughs). They’re like—straight away—it’s her! There’s plenty of women out there, I’m not going to say yes or no to anybody, but there’s a lot of exciting prospects for a potential tag partner.”
“I’ve always said that I would want to work with Sasha again in any capacity because she’s a pro. In the wrestling side of things, she’s such a fantastic athlete, you can’t deny her talent. She’s fantastic.”
However, on the January 4th episode of AEW Dynamite, Saraya indicated that she had chosen someone else to serve as her partner next week. During a backstage interview segment with Renee Paquette, Saraya sat between Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida and when she was asked about her choice of a teammate, she praised both Storm and Shida for their accomplishments and putting on great matches with current AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter.
Continuing, Saraya said that she was sitting next to the best wrestler in the world, and she’d therefore chosen Toni Storm as her partner for next week. While she continued to compliment Storm, Hikaru Shida looked taken aback and confused by the fact that she was being ignored.
