Saraya Might Have Wrestled In WWE Again If Triple H Had His Way
AEW star Saraya has revealed that she had the offer of potentially wrestling once again in WWE, years after being forced to retire.
The wrestler formerly known as Paige in WWE was forced to step away from the ring in late 2017 after suffering a serious neck injury in a bout that also included Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Bayley, Mickie James, and Sasha Banks.
After spending some time as SmackDown General Manager, Paige was found with little to do on WWE television before she announced she’d be leaving the company in the summer of 2022. Since then, the English star has re-emerged as Saraya in AEW and competed in her first match in almost five years at Full Gear.
Speaking to the Metro, Saraya discussed her love for Triple H and revealed that the Chief Content Officer didn’t know she was leaving WWE and offered her the chance to potentially compete in the company again one day:
“Man, I do love Hunter, he’s so fantastic. He was like, ‘Wait what happened?!’ I was like, ‘I dunno, they haven’t renewed my contract.’ He was like, ‘Oh my gosh! Well, I didn’t know that, so I’m sorry!’ He was really fantastic.”
“He did give me the opportunity to potentially be a GM again, and give me the opportunity to be like, ‘If you ever potentially want to wrestle again, I’ll give you that opportunity too.’ He was very open about any ideas that I had.”
Saraya will compete in her second match since joining AEW on the 11th of January edition of Dynamite when she teams with Toni Storm – or possibly not – to face AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker DMD.
