Saraya Explains Recent AEW Absence

Saraya asked for time off.

After signing with AEW in November 2022, Saraya was instantly a regular on television and went on to win the Women’s World Title just nine months later at All In. However, the British star wrestled more sparingly in 2024 and hasn’t been seen on television since October.

Speaking to The Buzz on the red carpet for the American Reality TV Awards in November, Saraya said she was taking a break from AEW to focus on more non-wrestling projects. The star added that she’s already filmed a new episode of Catfish.

While there was no timeline given for her return, speculation has continued to grow.

Saraya Fires Back At Fan

During her absence, the star shared a photo of herself wearing a Stone Cold Steve Austin hoodie on social media. While most fans saw the post as nothing more than Saraya having fun, there were some strange responses, including one claiming that her not wearing AEW merchandise is why she hasn’t been on television.

While tackling the “moronic” comment, the former Women’s Champion revealed she took time off for “personal reasons.”

You’re so moronic. I asked for time off for the first time in my career for personal reasons and Tony was gracious enough to give me that.

Also I’m a 32 year old woman. I can wear whatever tf I want.

Saraya signed a contract extension with AEW back in September 2024 with her existing deal on the verge of expiring. Although the company held an option on her contract, it was confirmed the new deal was an entirely new agreement.
