Santos Escobar Addresses Shocking Assist On WWE SmackDown

Santos Escobar Dominik Mysterio WWE Smackdown

Santos Escobar has reacted to Dominik Mysterio helping him pick up a big win on WWE SmackDown.

In the opening match of WWE SmackDown in Memphis, Santos Escobar defeated Rey Mysterio in controversial fashion. The two men were allies for most of 2023 until Escobar turned on Rey in November, which led to Rey having right knee surgery and missing about five months of action.

It appeared as though Rey was in full control after taking out Escobar on the floor. After Rey sent Escobar back into the ring, a masked man grabbed Rey’s leg leading to Rey bumping into the ring. Escobar hit Rey with Rey’s 619 kick move followed by a Phantom Driver for the pinfall win.

The masked man revealed himself to be Raw’s Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day group. After the match, Escobar celebrated with Dominik.

While speaking to WWE’s Digital Media team, Escobar reminded the fans that his Legado Del Fantasma group and Rey’s LWO were banned from ringside, but not others.

“The stipulation was no LDF, and no LWO. Last time I checked, ‘Dirty Dom’ is Judgment Day. He’s not Legado Del Fantasma, he’s not LWO. But the one thing we have in common is that we both hate Rey Mysterio.”

Santos Escobar Respects The Judgment Day

Escobar was asked if Dominik’s involvement cheapened the win, but Escobar didn’t seem to care about that.

“A win’s a win. It doesn’t matter how it comes. A win is a win. The Judgment Day runs all. Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, it doesn’t matter. So like I said, a win is a win.”

With WrestleMania set to take place in two weeks on April 6th and April 7th, WWE has yet to announce a match for Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio or Santos Escobar. At WrestleMania 39, Rey beat Dominik in a memorable match
