Santino Marella Challenging For WWE Title

Santino Marella might be the Director of Authority in TNA, but now he’s set to challenge for WWE gold for the first time in eleven years.

Santino Marella was forced to get tough recently as one controversial TNA star was suspended indefinitely after they attacked a member of the company’s broadcast team at Slammiversary.

The Milan Miracle might be more focused on laying down the law than getting in the ring these days, but he’s now confronted an NXT champion and challenged them to a title match.

On the July 22nd edition of NXT, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page revelled in his success as he unveiled a brand new title belt. Tossing aside the belt that was first introduced in 2018, Page revealed a new belt complete with a Canadian flag leather strap as he paid tribute to his home and native land.

However, Page soon had company as the former WWE Intercontinental Champion made his presence felt with Santino Marella challenging Page to an NXT North American Title match on the July 29th edition of NXT.

Santino Marella’s full-time career in WWE came to an end in 2014, but he did return to the company for a brief cameo in the 2020 Royal Rumble.
