A New Japan Pro Wrestling veteran wrestler has named AEW’s Samoa Joe as his dream match.

Samoa Joe has been named the dream fight/match for New Japan wrestling legend Satoshi Kojima.

During his 30+ year career as a pro wrestler, Satoshi Kojima has done it all in Japan. He’s a former two-time NJPW Heavyweight Champion, he’s been a Tag Team Champion and 6-Man Tag Team Champion as well. Fans of NJPW know him well, but he’s also gotten to wrestle plenty in the US as well.

At the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Kojima competed in the quarterfinals of the Men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament against CM Punk. Going into the match, it’s unlikely that anybody watching it thought that Kojima had a shot to win, but the physical veteran put up a fight before Punk put him away.

If Kojima won that match against Punk, he would have faced Samoa Joe in the semifinals. Kojima had Joe on his mind as he sent out a tweet about a possible match with the current ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe.

“On June 25th, if I had beaten CM Punk, I would have fought Joe at this time.

It’s my dream to fight Joe.

I hope that someday it will come true.”

The Owen Hart Cup semifinal match between CM Punk and Samoa Joe took place in the main event of the July 8th edition of Collision in Regina, Saskatchewan. AEW did a great job of showing the history between Joe and Punk going back to their Ring of Honor days nearly twenty years ago.

While Samoa Joe dominated the past against CM Punk, it was Punk getting the big win on Collision. Punk will now move onto the finals of the Owen Hart Cup and he’ll face Ricky Starks next week on Collision.
