Sammy Guevara Breaks Silence On Long Road Back To AEW Dynamite

Sammy Guevara AEW

Sammy Guevara has given his thoughts after making his long-awaited return to AEW Dynamite as he tries to get over paying for the sins of his past.

As Ricochet looks to rack up the wins in AEW to get his chance to reignite his rivalry with Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship, he was in action on Dynamite in Lexington against a man not seen on the show for eight months.

Sammy Guevara last competed on AEW’s flagship show in January 2024 when he defeated Ricky Starks. An ill-fated bout between Guevara and Jeff Hardy in February led to Guevara’s suspension from the company and he only returned to action as part of Ring of Honor in July.

August saw Guevara return to AEW on Collision where he teamed with Dustin Rhodes to win the ROH Tag Team Championship but he was less successful when he went solo on Dynamite as Ricochet picked up the win.

Sammy Guevara Grateful Despite AEW Loss

However, speaking in a digital exclusive, it was clear that one loss paled in significance compared to Sammy Guevara making his way back to Dynamite and overcoming the issues of his past:

It‘s been a long road to get back here, and not every day’s a good day. Some days, I wake up and I feel like I am gonna forever pay for the sins of my past, and it feels like, some days, I wake up, and the weight on my shoulders is heavier than others. Some days, I wake up and I’m conflicted with who I was and who I want to be.

But who I want to be right now is just a man who’s grateful. It’s not all bad. I came up short tonight. Yeah, losing sucks, and I can’t wait for the rematch. But we’re back on Dynamite. Most importantly, I have a beautiful daughter and a beautiful wife waiting for me at home, and that feeling, that is better than any win in the ring could ever be.

So tonight wasn’t my night, but it doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be. So I’m gonna keep doing my thing. Come here, come to work, show out, give everything that I am, 110% every single time, and one day, somehow, some way, I will get to my destiny one day.
