Sami Zayn is a beloved figure backstage in WWE.

In addition to being a brilliant wrestler, Zayn is also renowned for his humanitarian efforts, particularly his “Sami for Syria” campaign.

His friendship with fellow Canadian wrestler Kevin Owens is also well-documented.

The former NXT Champion has a history of alliances and defiance with Owens. Regardless, appearances together in the ring are always cinema.

Recently, Owens appeared on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast.

The Prizefighter was candid about his time away from WWE due to an injury, his peers, and his friendship with Zayn.

The ex-Universal Champion also discussed being on a different timetable with Zayn, thus sharing his backstage antics.

Owens indirectly called out Sami Zayn for his tardiness and spontaneity.

(Zayn) Will show up at 3:30 PM…(add maneuvers to the match) 40 seconds before we go out.

(Imitates Zayn taping his wrists) “Wait, what if we do this instead? And then we’re in gorilla, the music’s playing,” he’s like, “We gotta go. No, but just duck that and then throw it.”

Are we saying too much? [1:02:30 onwards]

Cody, however, wasn’t remiss in mentioning that despite the antics, Zayn put on magical shows with Owens.

Sami Zayn Goes Up Against Karrion Kross At Night Of Champions

Despite his in-ring acumen, Zayn has never won a WWE Championship on the main roster.

He participated in the King of the Ring Tournament on multiple RAW episodes, but ultimately lost to Randy Orton in the semi-finals.

Before the matches, Karrion Kross would play mind games with Zayn, saying he would never be a WWE Champion.

In the recent episode of the Red Brand, Sami punched Kross backstage after the latter approached him with an “I told you so” speech.

Their singles match at Night of Champions will possibly determine Kross’ intentions in their future storyline.
