Sami Zayn Not Considered WrestleMania Headliner By WWE Management
Sami Zayn might be the talk of the wrestling world at the moment but a report suggests that he is still not seen as a WrestleMania headliner by WWE management.
Sami Zayn finally had enough of Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble when he slammed a chair into Reigns’ back after The tribal Chief demanded he use the weapon to finish off Kevin Owens.
The noise when Zayn finally flattened Reigns in San Antonio was deafening with the fans firmly behind Sami Zayn despite his recent allegiance to The Bloodline. However, despite that fan support, those at the top of WWE apparently don’t see Zayn as being a WrestleMania headliner.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that neither Vince McMahon nor Triple H sees Zayn as a WrestleMania headliner and there will not be a repeat of 2019 when Kofi Kingston’s fan support took him to an unexpected WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 35:
“Neither Vince McMahon nor Paul Levesque saw Zayn as a guy who could headline WrestleMania and that the scenario of Zayn challenging in Montreal and moving it to WrestleMania because he got hot, which WWE did previously for Kofi Kingston when he got hot and got the spot planned for Owens in 2019 was not going to happen.”
Sami Zayn will have his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in his hometown of Montreal following the events on SmackDown on the 3rd of February.
