Sami Zayn has been elevated to a main event-level role in WWE and he has commented on how that makes him feel as a performer.

With the Royal Rumble coming up in a few hours, Sami Zayn has the spotlight on him. This past Monday on Raw, The Bloodline held the “Trial of Sami Zayn” which led to Paul Heyman questioning Sami’s loyalty to the group, but Jey Uso spoke up in Sami’s defense. That led to the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns ruling that Sami Zayn wasn’t going to be punished by the group…for now.

Going into the Men’s Royal Rumble match tonight, Sami Zayn is considered one of the favorites to win the match because a lot of people believe he should be the guy that beats Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 39.

Zayn was interviewed by Ariel Helwani of BT Sport ahead of the Royal Rumble and he was asked about how much he’s having in WWE right now.

“I would say it’s like post-pandemic coming back from the pandemic. Since from then on, it’s been a lot of fun. Because I had a lot of fun doing the conspiracy stuff in the ThunderDome. And then the stuff with Knoxville was really, really fun. And then this, it’s all been yeah, it’s been a lot of fun.”

“I think what separates this from those first two things, especially is the level of engagement from the audience that is on a whole different level because I’m rubbed up against the top act in the company, top act in the business really. So when you start getting mixed in with that, where fans are just preconditioned to give 100% of their emotion anytime that guy’s on the screen. It’s just nice to have that level of engagement.”

“I said this in a different interview, but my entire career, I have treated anything I’m doing like it’s the most important thing on the show. And now’s the first time that it’s actually true, 20 years in, you know what I mean? Like, they’re giving me the energy that matches the amount of input and whatever I’m putting in. It’s like reciprocal. So that’s a sweet feeling. That’s very nice.”

In the same interview, Zayn talked about how he believes he can be a World Championship wrestler in WWE.
