Samantha Irvin has dropped a bombshell.

On October 21st, Samantha Irvin shocked fans by announcing she had left WWE and her role as ring announcer on Monday Night Raw. The news came just hours before the show went on the air, with the popular figure replaced by Lilian Garcia.

It was later reported that Irvin is looking to focus on her music career, something that isn’t compatible with life on the road as part of WWE.

Despite her relatively short four-year tenure with the company, Irvin was loved by fans around the world and announced some of the company’s biggest moments in recent memory. The star has been lauded as one of the greatest announcers in history, with her tearful confirmation of Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania World Title win set to become the stuff of legend.

However, it seems that Irvin wasn’t quite as in love with her job as many thought.

Samantha Irvin Didn’t Like Being An Announcer

During an exchange on social media with a user who claimed Ricochet was behind her leaving the company, Irvin was quick to fire back. She explained that she never actually liked being an announcer, and wanted to be a manager. However, WWE never saw her in that role.

“I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”

The person involved then backtracked, calling WWE disrespectful, before Irvin commented on Ricochet’s time with the company.

“Thank you so much, I love WWE and I’m so proud and honored I got to share all the moments with fellow fans much love! also, they wanted Rico to stay in the big leagues. I don’t know why everyone pretending like he was always in great positions at WWE.”

Ricochet signed with AEW in August 2024 after spending six years with WWE. The star has since claimed his partner won’t be joining him in the Tony Khan-led company.
