Rumour Killer On WWE Backlash Location
The rumoured location for Backlash has been shot down by WWE officials.
For the past two years, WWE has taken the Backlash PLE outside of North America to locations that had some incredible crowds. The 2023 Backlash event in Puerto Rico had a lot of memorable moments including when music superstar Bad Bunny beat and Damian Priest in the home country of the two men.
At Backlash 2024 in Lyon, France, the crowd was on fire for the whole night with a lot of innovative songs and chants while making noise for everything. The building was literally shaking during introductions for the Cody Rhodes-AJ Styles due to the songs the crowd sang for Styles.
Regarding the 2025 edition of Backlash, Bad Bunny claimed that this year’s version of the show will be in Mexico.
“What can I tell you? It was nice. We were there until we could bring WWE to Puerto Rico. And man, I actually feel like it was good for them and for everyone, because I saw that last year Backlash was in France, now it’s going to Mexico. They saw that it worked.”
WWE Denies That Backlash Will Be In Mexico
After those comments were made by Bad Bunny, they were spread around the wrestling universe with websites and social media believing that what Bunny was saying was the truth.
However, WWE has issued denials to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, who reports that several people in the company claim that Backlash will not be in Mexico. PWInsider added that “there are no current plans for that event to emanate from Mexico.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also reported on X/Twitter that WWE isn’t bringing Backlash to Mexico.
WWE sources have pushed back on Backlash Mexico when I’ve asked today. Saying they aren’t prepared to reveal the location of that PLE.
Regarding WWE shows in Saudi Arabia, it looks like Triple H and company will only be doing one show in their country with that event set to take place in June of this year. Saudi Arabia will also host Royal Rumble 2026, which would be their first time hosting that major event.
