Update On Ronda Rousey’s WWE Future, Feud With Shayna Baszler

wwe ronda rousey attacked shayna baszler

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles at Money in the Bank, which has led to some details on what’s next for the former tag team.

The WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event was full of shocking moments. One of them involved the Women’s Tag Team Title match involving Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler facing Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan.

Going into the Women’s Tag Team Title match, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler appeared to be a cohesive unit that recently unified the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles. They looked like the kind of team that was going to hold onto the titles for a very long time and they would be tough to beat.

While Rousey & Baszler worked together very well during the match and nearly won a few times, Baszler decided to hit her best friend Rousey with a forearm to the back. That would lead to Baszler choking out Rousey with the Kirifuda Clutch.

After Baszler took out Rousey with the choke, Rodriguez and Morgan each hit their finishing moves leading to Morgan pinning Rousey. Rodriguez & Morgan are now two-time Women’s Tag Team Champions while Rousey is left to wonder why Baszler attacked her.

During the post-Money in the Bank edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Ronda Rousey’s time in WWE may be coming to an end soon because she has a date in mind for when she wants to stop wrestling.

“This was always the plan. The thing was that I was saying Ronda and Shayna were winning the tag team titles, and then Ronda got hurt. The thing is that I don’t know the date and it might be Summer Slam, it might be a little bit after.”

“But the deal is Ronda has a hard-out, you know, I mean she gave a date, ‘This is my last date.’ Because I remember talking to somebody there and it’s like, well, you know, I know they’re gonna do this. And it’s like, I guess make the big match for WrestleMania. And it’s like, no, it’s like her hard-out is long. They didn’t give me the date, but it’s like, it’s long before WrestleMania.”

“So the point is that whatever it is that they’re planning to do. They’ve always, the whole tag team was to set up Ronda and Shayna doing a feud. Ronda wanted to do this feud with Shayna. She got what she wanted. She’s always wanted to do it because Shayna’s the one who got her basically into pro wrestling. You know, Ronda was someone who watched it and sort of knew a little bit about it, but not, she wasn’t like a big pro wrestling fan.”

Ronda Rousey’s first WWE run started in January 2018 and ended in the main event of WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. After giving birth to a daughter in September 2021, Rousey came back to WWE to win the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2022. Based on the report above, it sounds like Ronda Rousey has an end date in mind for her current WWE run.
