Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch Reportedly Being Considered For WrestleMania 38
A new report has claimed that ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey could return to WWE in the near future, with a match against Becky Lynch being talked about for WrestleMania 38.
Ronda Rousey hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since April 7th, 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she was defeated in a Triple Threat match by Becky Lynch, who emerged with both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships from the bout, which also included Charlotte Flair.
A recent report from Fightful Select has revealed that WWE are discussing the possibility of having Rousey return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. The report added that it’s a “poorly kept secret” and has even been mentioned to figures outside WWE.
The Wrestling Observer followed up on the report, saying that Rousey is “definitely on the books” for an appearance at WrestleMania 38. The report also notes that if she returns at the Rumble, then this could lead to a WrestleMania appearance.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has now suggested that the plan is for Ronda Rousey to clash with Becky Lynch one-on-one on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
“I presume [Rousey will face Lynch]. She’s scheduled for WrestleMania and it’s been reported that she’s gonna be at the Rumble which makes sense. The problem is if she’s in the Rumble does that mean she wins the Rumble?”
“If she’s gonna come in and just get thrown out, it’s a nothing [moment] especially if she’s going to be a big headliner at WrestleMania, which if she’s gonna be at WrestleMania she’s gonna be a big headliner or she’s not going to be there.”
Meltzer and co-host Bryan Alvarez also discussed another potential opponent for Rousey, Charlotte Flair.
“My impression is it’s more likely to be Becky Lynch though. That could be the match and the impression I got is that it’s certainly more than considered to be the match. I don’t know if it’s ‘official official’ but I know somebody there who told me that it was “in the books” and “in heavy consideration” that that would be the match.”
