Ronda Rousey WWE

Ronda Rousey was a prominent figure in the WWE women’s division.

Ronda Rousey’s journey in WWE began in January 2018 when she made her debut. She achieved significant success, including winning the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. Her WWE run involved notable matches and storylines, often highlighting her MMA background.

Rousey’s WWE career officially ended in October 2023 after her last match at SummerSlam 2023, where she lost to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match. She decided to leave WWE primarily due to creative frustrations. She felt that she was held back creatively and that the organization never allowed her to make the most of her potential, which led to her retirement from professional wrestling.

What Did Ronda Rousey Say About Her WWE Legacy?

In a recent interview on The Lapsed Fan podcast. Ronda Rousey discussed her WWE run and also reflected on whether she will be remembered for her role in the women’s main event revolution. She said she might not be remembered as part of the story about women becoming main eventers in WWE over the next decade, but she is unconcerned because the women will still be main eventers.

Ronda Rousey explained her motivation was never about public recognition but about pushing herself to do things for her own satisfaction. She emphasized that her legacy is more personal, centered on what she experienced and accomplished privately rather than what others saw or appreciated. Despite some of her contributions being unknown to many, she believes others will benefit from the path she helped pave.

“I don’t know if I’ll be part of that story about how women are main eventers in 10 years. But I don’t give a f***, because women are gonna be main eventers in 10 years. I realized at one point, ‘Man, I do so much badass f***** gangster s*** that no one’s ever gonna know about,’ and then I realized why I do it. It’s because I get a kick out of doing badass gangster s***.”

“It’s not so people can see it and appreciate it—it’s so I can pop myself. Like, you know what’d be some badass gangster s*** to do right now? And then I go do it. There’s so much people will never know about my contributions. My legend is really just me experiencing it. Guys, you have no idea. I’m the most badass gangster b**** ever. So will everyone appreciate it? Probably not. Will everyone benefit from it? Yeah, they f****** will.”
