Ronda Rousey Versus Shayna Baszler Confirmed For SummerSlam
After months of teasing and years of planning, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler will finally face each other one-on-one at SummerSlam.
Ronda Rousey and Baszler have plenty of history together stemming from when both women were still active in mixed martial arts. Around the same time that WWE coined the term ‘Four Horsewomen of NXT”, a similar term emerged for MMA that involved Rousey, Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke.
Baszler and Rousey spent a long time together behind the scenes in WWE, but only started teaming together fairly recently. However, their time as a tag team was short-lived as Baszler turned on Rousey at Money In The Bank.
That turn cost the two women the WWE Tag Team Titles and on subsequent WWE programs the two have fought in wild brawls several times.
Now, though, it appears that a showdown has been all but confirmed. After Shayna Baszler beat Nikki Cross in a short match, Ronda Rousey appeared in a press box and began talking trash, claiming that she outdid Baszler at everything. An enraged Baszler wanted to fight Rousey at that very moment but Rousey refused.
But when Baszler made her way up the stars towards Rousey’s press box only to be stopped by security, Rousey decided to give Baszler one final gift in the form of “getting her booked for SummerSlam for the first time.”
Rousey concluded the segment by saying, “You, me, I’ll see you in Motor City, bitch”, effectively confirming that the two women will fight on August 5th.
