Ronda Rousey Praises Major AEW Star For Transforming Marina Shafir

Ronda Rousey WWE

Ronda Rousey has nothing but praise for one AEW star who has transformed the fortunes of her friend, Marina Shafir.

Ronda Rousey has little good to say about her time in WWE despite rising to the very top of that company as Raw Women’s Champion and headlining WrestleMania 35. The end of that match left some fans scratching their heads, but Rousey has again doubled down on the fact that she refused to tap out to Becky Lynch.

Despite her own woes in the pro wrestling world, Ronda Rousey is thrilled to see her close friend and one of the MMA Four Horsewomen, Marina Shafir, thriving in AEW.

Speaking to Yahoo Sports, Rousey spoke of how happy she was to see Marina Shafir go from a complete novice to being part of some of the biggest bouts in AEW through her role in the Death Riders:

She’s coming into her own in that space and feeling really confident and just becoming like a real f***ing pro.

Going from being like, ‘How do I do an arm drag?’ To being part of five-star matches and stuff like that, it’s really great to see her just having so much joy with it and rising to the top level of the industry.

Ronda Rousey Grateful For Jon Moxley

For Rousey, there’s one person who’s made a huge difference in Shafir’s career, her on-screen partner, Jon Moxley:

He is just so supportive and so kind and so passionate.

He’s just so humble and I feel like so much of that success stems from his talent — and not just his talent, but his willingness and passion to give back and to bring up everybody with him and have his rising tide lift all of their boats. And I’m so grateful for him and the kind of friend that he’s been to Marina.

Ronda Rousey went on to note that mentors such as Jon Moxley are what keep the pro wrestling industry thriving as they foster an environment of cooperation rather than cut-throat competition:

They’re the real lifeblood of the industry. And I hope that continues and that it’s encouraged, and that it’s not like some cutthroat, ‘me versus you’ kind of environment.

It’s the culture and the giving back to each other and the constant hands helping each other up — that is what makes it continue to be great. And will continue to make pro wrestling rise in cultural awareness.
