Ronda Rousey In Active Negotiations For Combat Sports Return

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey could be headed back into the fight game, but not for WWE or UFC.

When Ronda Rousey fought in the UFC, she became one of the company’s biggest draws and eventually a UFC Hall of Famer.

As a pro MMA fighter, Rousey started her career with a 12-0 record and won 11 of those fights in the first round. Unfortunately for Rousey, she lost her last two fights, Holly Holm in November 2015 and Amanda Nunes in December 2016, which essentially ended her UFC career.

Following her UFC run, there were rumors that she would join WWE, and that eventually happened when she appeared at Royal Rumble 2018. That first WWE run lasted for about 15 months and ended when she headlined WrestleMania 35 in 2019 with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. After Lynch won two titles in the match, Rousey left WWE and had a baby.

In 2022, Ronda Rousey returned to WWE and won the Women’s Royal Rumble from the 23rd spot. That second WWE run lasted about a year and a half when Rousey put over her good friend Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam 2023, and then walked away from WWE after that. Rousey went on to have another child as well.

During her two runs in WWE, Rousey was a 3-time WWE Women’s Champion and a Women’s Tag Team Champion with Baszler.

With WWE and UFC both in her past, it appears as though Rousey wants to step back into the ring for another venture.

Ronda Rousey Negotiating To Make Boxing Debut

It has been reported by Boxing Scene’s Lance Pugmire that Ronda Rousey is in “active negotiations” to box Katie Taylor in a bout that would take place in Las Vegas.

Katie Taylor and Ronda Rousey are involved in active negotiations to stage a mega-bout in Las Vegas matching the most compelling women’s combat fighters of this century, BoxingScene has learned.

Ireland’s two-time undisputed boxing champion Taylor, 25-1 (6 KOs), coming off a July victory over Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano that generated 6 million streams on Netflix, is 39 and nearing the end of a legendary career that has included an Olympic gold medal.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Rousey, 38, has performed in WWE after reigning as UFC women’s bantamweight champion for three years (2012-2015) before being upset by boxing hall of famer Holly Holm.

The potential of a Rousey-Taylor fight has drawn the interest of Netflix, reports Pugmire. As WWE fans know, Monday Night Raw is on Netflix and the popular streamer has aired several boxing events in the past.

It was added by Pugmire that if the Rousey-Taylor fight did happen, then it would likely take place in the summer of 2026.
