Ronda Rousey Plans Throw More Confusion Into WWE’s Women’s Division

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler let the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions know they’re coming after them but the situation might not be as clear cut as first thought.

Rousey and Baszler were reportedly set to become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 39 but an injury suffered by Rousey prior to the show seemed to nix those plans. Although the pair did team up at the event to win a fatal four-way tag team match on the show.

Now Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler look to have the championship in their sight once again as they attacked one-half of the champions, Raquel Rodriguez, on Raw. This looks to be leading to a title match down the line with Rousey and Baszler challenging Rodriguez and Liv Morgan for the gold.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the situation surrounding the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is further in doubt due to time off that Rousey is planning on taking:

“The timing of this is an issue because Rousey is planning on taking time off at a certain time frame which was prior to WrestleMania, and the story was to end well before that. They would have to speed up the storyline if Rousey doesn’t extend her stay because the original plan was to establish the team as champions for a while and then do the actual storyline that this was to build to.”

Liv Morgan recently suffered an injury which kept her out of action on Raw although it is not believed she will miss much time from the ring. What the next step is for the tag team championship that has seemed snakebit ever since Sasha Banks and Naomi handed them in when they walked out of WWE remains to be seen.
