Ronda Rousey Says Last WWE Run Was A Negative Experience

Ronda Rousey WWE

Ronda Rousey has explained how she felt during her last WWE run while also admitting that things have likely changed there with Triple H running the show.

It is well known by now that Ronda Rousey didn’t enjoy her second run as a WWE superstar. Rousey’s first run started when she made her official WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble. Over a year later at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, she headlined the event with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair – the first women to headline WrestleMania.

After taking a WWE break that included giving birth to a daughter, Ronda Rousey returned at the 2022 Royal Royal Rumble and she went on to win that match. Over the next year and a half, there were some highs and lows, but most people would say her first run was better than the second run.

While talking to Wrestlezone, Ronda Rousey spoke about how she disliked working for the likes of Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard. In today’s WWE led by Paul “Triple H” Levesque running the show as the Chief Content Officer, McMahon and Laurinaitis are gone, but Rousey did take a shot at Prichard still being there.

“My last run, just with Vince [McMahon], Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis, it just was such a negative experience. Most of them are gone. Bruce’s little s**t ass is still around. But I’m not overly excited to come back like I was the last time.”

“Even though I had so many matches that I very much enjoyed and had a great time, when I look back on it, I don’t really think of the joy that I had in those matches and those live shows, or that I had so much fun.”

Ronda Rousey Was Frustrated By Management During Last WWE Run

If she never wrestles in WWE again, Ronda Rousey’s last match took place at SummerSlam 2023 when she lost to her close friend Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match. As the interview continued, Rousey spoke about the frustrations she had in WWE while also mentioning that women on the roster have told her about the positive changes that have happened.

“I just think of the anxiety of never knowing what was going on until the very last minute, not being allowed to prepare, and getting our time cut over and over and over again. The experience itself was so needlessly stressful. I think that’s what drove me so hard towards screenwriting and graphic novels.”

“This story is kind of like a refuge from that. I know that things are a lot different now. I’ve heard from the girls that it’s so much better, but it’s kind of hard to shake that and be excited to come back like I was before.”

While Rousey’s WWE experience may not have been the best the second time around, she does have something to look forward to since Rousey announced that she is pregnant, meaning that she and her husband Travis Browne are expecting their second child. Congratulations to their family.
