Ronda Rousey May Be Interested In Massive Return
Ronda Rousey is a former UFC and WWE star.
Rousey’s MMA career was remarkable but relatively brief. She began as a decorated judoka before transitioning to mixed martial arts in 2011. Rowdy Ronda quickly rose to prominence as UFC’s first female fighter, dominating the bantamweight division with six title defenses. However, her MMA career effectively ended in 2016 following two back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
Her previous judo and MMA concussions made the losses worse. These health concerns, especially repeated head injuries, played a significant role in her decision to retire at age 29. The Arm Collector later revealed that she was forced to leave the sport even when she was at her peak because her body could no longer withstand the rigors of fighting.
Ronda Rousey transitioned successfully into WWE, debuting in 2018 and quickly making a significant impact due to her star power and athletic ability. She achieved notable success, including multiple SmackDown Women’s Championships and a Women’s Tag Team Championship. Despite this, creative dissatisfaction and health concerns stemming from her concussion history marred Rousey’s WWE career.
In October 2023, after a loss to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey’s departure from WWE was confirmed. She expressed frustration with the creative environment and management during Vince McMahon’s reign and cited personal health as another key factor prompting her exit. After leaving WWE, she briefly performed on the independent circuit and in Ring of Honor before officially retiring from professional wrestling in 2025.
Ariel Helwani Feels Ronda Rousey Might Resume Her MMA Journey
Recently, Ronda Rousey sparked fan excitement by posting MMA training videos, showing her improving striking skills and a rekindled passion for the sport. Veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani addressed these developments during his show when a fan questioned whether Rousey might return to fighting. This is what he had to say:
“I don’t know if it’s the White House card. But I really think something is happening here.”
“I don’t think this is just … is she testing the waters? Sure. I think there is interest, and I’ll also say this: I never thought it would happen. She seemed so disgusted with MMA. The MMA community and the fans.”
“To now see this and to see her kind of flirting with the idea is something that I never expected, but I do think something’s there. What does that translate into? Does it actually translate into a fight? I don’t know.”
