Extreme Rules: Ronda Rousey Wins WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship

On Saturday at WWE Extreme Rules, Smackdown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan and “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” Ronda Rousey would square off for the title.

The match would be highly contested, with Morgan and Rousey using several different weapons, including Morgan putting Rousey through a table, and then afterwards, picking her up and throwing her through the smashed table again after a brief struggle between the two.

However, Rousey would counter right after the smashes, putting a submission hold on Morgan. She wouldn’t tap out, however. Morgan would pass out forcing the referee to ring the bell, making Ronda Rousey the new WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Liv Morgan would take the belt back in early July from Ronda Rousey after she would cash in her newly-won briefcase at Money in the Bank. Then, the two would meet up again at SummerSlam, with Morgan retaining the belt in controversial fashion when she appeared to tap out, however, the referee would count the decision as a pin count against Rousey.

Winning the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship on Saturday, Ronda Rousey is now a three-time WWE Women’s Champion, with this being her second stint in the blue brand. Her other reign was on Raw.
