Ronda Rousey Allegedly Failed a Huge Backstage Test in WWE

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey left WWE in October 2023 after a roughly five-year stint with the company.

Her last match in the promotion was against Baszler at SummerSlam in an MMA Rules match by technical submission. Creative frustration and personal life changes largely influenced her departure. She officially announced her retirement from WWE on October 11, 2023, on Instagram, citing that she had accomplished all she wanted in the company and had no reason to return.

In a recent interview with The Lapsed Fan podcast, Ronda Rousey talked about her time in WWE. She has often criticized WWE and Vince McMahon for mistreating the women’s division. Speaking on the show, she even called her SummerSlam match with Alexa Bliss “ridiculous,” expressing her dissatisfaction with the motive behind the booking of the bout.

“The fact that they had me fighting Alexa Bliss at all was f*cking ridiculous. And you want to know why they had me against Alexa Bliss? Because she had the most merch sales at the time, on that side. Like, what the f*ck? Like, that’s your decision-making process?”

Her remarks drew a negative reaction from the fans and critics alike. WWE legend JBL called her “naive” on the Something To Wrestle With podcast, while wrestling personality Peter Rosenberg called her statement “classless” on his show.

Stevie Richards Implies Ronda Rousey Had a Poor Backstage Attitude in WWE

Stevie Richards also weighed in on Ronda Rousey’s comments on his Stevie Richards show. He stated that WWE may have put her against Alexa Bliss to test how she would react to performing against her, and she failed the test because of the poor attitude she carried backstage.

“Maybe it was a test. See, that’s the thing right there, James. She doesn’t understand what a test is in pro wrestling. What’s your attitude going to be like? And she failed the test. (From 3:44 to 3:54)
